Iran lands 7th in Asia handball championship

TEHRAN, Jul. 31 (MNA) – The national Iranian men’s junior handball team beat the host to finish in the seventh place at the 2016 Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship.

On Saturday evening, the Iranian outfit delivered an eye-catching and energetic performance in its final match in the Jordanian capital Amman, and managed to subdue Jordan 33-13.

Young Iranian handball players ranked in the seventh place at the Asian games failing to qualify for the IHF Men's Junior World Championship 2017 to be hosted by Algeria.

Iran had placed fourth in the previous round of the sportive event suffering a three-place fall in the 15th edition.

Handball players of Iran bagged three victories over Uzbek and Jordanian rivals, tied with Japan in addition to suffering two losses against South Korea and Iraq.

The 15th edition of the Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship kicked off in Amman on July 22 and will conclude on August 1.

It serves as the qualification tournament for the 2017 International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s Junior World Championship, which will be held in Algeria.
